起源：蘇格蘭高地，約 4～6 世紀 最早的千鳥格圖樣可追溯到英國 蘇格蘭高地（Scottish Highlands） 的羊毛織布文化。 考古挖掘曾發現類似的織紋，推估出現於 公元 300–600 年。 當時多用於羊毛披肩、保暖斗篷，是實用且耐用的織紋。

The earliest houndstooth patterns can be traced back to the wool-weaving traditions of the Scottish Highlands in the United Kingdom.
Archaeological findings have uncovered similar woven motifs, estimated to date from A.D. 300–600.
At the time, the pattern was commonly used in wool shawls and warm cloaks, valued for its practicality and durability.
